I’m supposed to be dress shopping this weekend. My mum and my sister are coming from their respective homes and I’ve got the appointments booked.
The Boyf spotted it first though, the thing I was trying to avoid admitting to myself: I’m not really looking forward to it.
I’m nervous. No, strike that: petrified. And I can’t work out why. I LOVE to shop. I pride myself on being a good shopper, for myself and for other people. Sometimes I go out and try things on just for the hell of it.
So why on earth aren’t I prancing around in glee at the thought of try on lots of lovely wedding dresses?
I think I’m feeling the pressure. It is, after all, a big decision. But I’m finding it really hard to get excited about most of the wedding dresses I’ve seen. I mean, I’ve seen lots that are fabulous. But none that I can see myself wearing.
Partly it’s a general I’ve-eaten-too-much-my-hair-needs-cutting-good-god-look-how-fat-my-thighs-are malaise. What if I can’t find one I like – or worse, what if I hate every single one?
What if I look like a short lacy dump truck? What if DO find one I like but I know H2B will hate it?
So I've a bit of a dilemma. The weather forecast for the week is terrible. So I could tell my folks not to try and make it through the snow and that we'll go another time.
But is that just postponing the inevitable? Should I go by myself? With some friends? Or wait til the weather's better and go with my ma, who is after all paying?
Anyone got any advice for me? Is this normal behaviour or am I a bit of a freak?
