A couple of weeks ago I trekked over to Havant to meet the lovely ladies at Nursery Fresh, who are supplying the flowers for our wedding.
A floral wonderland where you really wouldn't expect to find it
The now have a florist service, so I went to chat to them about bouquets and buttonholes and a couple of arrangements for the ceremony room.
The address was in a quiet estate in Havant - not the sort of place you expect a flower wholesaler, really.
But then, I turned down a drive and round a corner - and it was like being transported to another world.
Acre after acre of giant glass greenhouses, exactly what you'd expect a flower wholesaler to look like, just in a REALLY unusual location.
Sally and Jan were very helpful, suggetsing flowers, numbers and cost-saving measures.
They didn't flinch when I told them how little money I had to spend (or when Jan saw the width of hole in the birdcage I'd brought her).
And as result, I've got bouquets, buttonholes birdcages and PLENTY of flowers to fill my various assorted jam jars and vases. All I have to do is go and collect them (although if you just want flowers and no fuss they do deliver to your venue.) Anyway, this isn't an advert, but I was so amazed by the size and scale of their plot that I thought I'd tell you about it.
Plus I think it's good to show that if you're worrying about your florist budget and don't want anything fancy, it can be done if you find a good wholesaler.
I'm not spending anywhere near the traditional "10% of your budget" mark (if I was, I wouldn't be able to afford the dress!) but I am certain that it's all going to look lovely.
